Data Engineer

Pandata is a Cleveland-based group of data scientists who help organizations drive value from data. We’re rapidly becoming the go to resource for data science solutions in Northeast Ohio with services spanning critical functions from sales and marketing to operations and security.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with our data scientists to acquire, curate, and clean data from a wide variety of both public and private sources
  • Collaborate with data scientists to build and scale predictive models and machine learning algorithms on large data sets and deploy into production
  • Facilitate DevOps processes and solution maintenance
  • Develop and maintain ETL workflows
  • Provision and maintain databases and cloud computing environments
  • Spend part-time working on machine learning and data analytics
  • Work with clients to gather and define requirements, set up storage and compute environments, maintenance & troubleshooting, and training
  • Generate written documentation to clients and co-workers around processes
  • Continue to grow your knowledge of data engineering, and analytic tools and processes
  • Represent Pandata at various community and regional events
  • Up to 10% travel may be required

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in software engineering (computer science, software engineering, systems engineering …) or equivalent certification or experience
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
  • Preferred experience in analytics, or interest in learning analytics
  • Prior experience implementing ETL processes from a variety of sources (Databases, JSON, XML, HTML, Text, etc..)
  • Prior experience provisioning and maintaining database systems
  • Experience in one of the following: GCP, AWS, Azure
  • Experience with Hadoop and at least one Big Data querying tool (Pig, Hive, Impala, …)
  • Demonstrated history of solving complex problems creatively, gathering requirements, and validating solutions independently
  • A track record of producing comprehensive documentation and communicating technical needs to coworkers and/or clients
  • Comfort and demonstrated success multitasking and balancing multiple projects
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, as needed
